REPORT: Arsenal Could Sign 58-Cap Premier League Midfielder On Free Transfer

Arsenal could sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans on a free transfer at the end of the current Premier League season – according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the Belgian will become a free agent in the summer.

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Youri Tielemans will leave Leicester as free agent, no doubts since last summer; understand has not agreed terms with any club yet. There are multiple proposals on the table but Youri is focused on final games then he will assess his options and decide next club.”

The Gunners have reportedly tried to bring Tielemans to the club already this season. They were linked the with Belgian international in the January transfer window, but a move failed to materialise. With him becoming a free agent in the summer, they should face fewer roadblocks.

Arsenal, however, are not the only ones who are believed to be interested in signing Tielemans. Manchester United have also registered an interest in him previously – with him being available on a free transfer, it’s likely that they could resume their questo to bring him to Old Trafford.

What would Youri Tielemans add to Arsenal’s squad?

Tielemans is an extremely talented central midfielder. Not only is he a brilliant passer and a positive dribbler, he also has a solid goal record for someone who plays predominantly in midfield.

He has had a poor season with the Foxes this year. It isn’t all his fault, necessarily – Leicester have underperformed across the board and look set to experience an ignominious relegation at the season’s end.

Arsenal have no shortage of talented central midfielders, with the likes of Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka in their ranks. Nevertheless, Tielemans could provide quality depth, as well as competition for places in the first team.
