Arsenal and Tottenham are the leading candidates to sign Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, according to Sport (via Goal.com France). The Catalan newspaper reports that both teams could make their move in the January transfer window.
The Welshman is unsettled at the Bernabeu, having had a fractious relationship with head coach Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman made it public in the summer that he wanted to move on Bale but it was eventually decided that the 30-year-old would stay after negotiations over a move to China collapsed.
Other reports in Spain suggest that a switch to the Far East is still on the cards, but it appears Bale himself is keener on moving back to London.
A return to former club Spurs could well be possible, but it appears that the Gunners may try to enter negotiations as well. Whether this story has any legs or not, we will have to wait and see when the market reopens in January.
