“Remains A Target…” Romano Confirms Arsenal Are Expected To Revive 70M January Transfer

Arsenal will reignite their interest in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo at the end of the season, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have also been linked with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia recently, and Romano claims both players are being considered as targets ahead of the summer transfer window:

“Remember my words, Caicedo remains a target after the discussions they had during the January transfer window. Caicedo is in the list again at Arsenal and Romeo Lavia is a player they are following.”

Caicedo was the subject of two bids from Arsenal in January, with the last offer being £70m, but Brighton refused to sell the Ecuadorian international.

The player has subsequently signed a new contract but a transfer remains a possibility, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea also expected to join the race for his signature.

With Lavia, things are slightly more complicated. The Belgian’s former club Manchester City have a buyback option but Romano claims that will only become active in 2024. With that being the case, it could allow the Gunners to sign the teenager from under their rival’s noses this summer, as long as they are willing to match Southampton’s valuation.
