Ramsey staying at Arsenal ‘very important’

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has insisted that it is vital the Gunners resolve the future of Aaron Ramsey as soon as possible.

Ramsey has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract at the club, and there have been numerous reports that claim he could be open to the idea of exiting the club.

The Wales international could therefore be set to become yet another player to leave the Emirates on a free transfer, with the Gunners still mourning the recent loss of Alexis Sanchez on the cheap to Manchester United.

It was reported that new boss Unai Emery sees Ramsey as an integral part of the Arsenal team, and a player that he could effectively build the team around. But with rumours about a potential exit, Parlour is desperate for the midfielder to have his future sorted.

“It’s very important that Arsenal keep Aaron Ramsey, especially after already losing Jack Wilshere this summer,” Parlour told bWIN.

“Arsenal need British players at the club after losing the likes of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain in recent times.

“Ramsey would start every week and he’s well suited to a deeper midfield role next to Torreira, who can provide the platform for Ramsey to join attacks late in a similar style to Frank Lampard. Ramsey has good composure in front of goal and has a habit of performing in big games.”

Arsenal have had a fairly busy summer transfer window thus far, with Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Uruguay international Lucas Torreira and Lorient teenager Matteo Guendouzi all signing for the club so far.

However, with the number of important contracts that are running down, it is vital that negotiations go to plan.
