Ramsey Lucky To Still Be With Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey is Arsenal’s top scorer in the 2013-2014 season so far. His performances have had a great impact on the Gunners’ game and have taken Wenger’s team on top of the Premier League standings. The Welshman has found the net 11 times already (2 more than the whole Tottenham squad) and has maintained a high level of form. According to Metro, Wenger was beginning to doubt the Welshman ahead of this season and was contemplating giving him less playing time.

Arsenal’s boss spoke about Ramsey’s past and mentioned the fact that he could have left a few years back. Even if he was introduced to the team as one of the most promising players at the Emirates, he hit a rough patch which made fans lose confidence in his abilities. Wenger stated that he nearly succumbed to the Gooners’ wish to leave Ramsey aside and find a different alternative for the Gunners midfield.

Looking back, the Frenchman was quite pleased with his decision to push Ramsey in order to help him become one of Europe’s most efficient midfielders. The Welsh international hade real confidence issues a year back which brought him on the verge of becoming yet another promising player that does not deliver. Fortunately for him, Arsenal’s boss who is known for the great way he handles young footballers, did not give up on him and worked together on improving his morale.

The 22 year old who has been with Arsenal since 2008 is just beginning to showcase his skills according to Wenger. Even if he did not manage to score against Marseille just as he did in the first leg, he still played an important part in the Gunner’s 2-0 win against the French side which puts them first in their Champions League group.

Hopefully for Arsenal, Ramsey will continue improving his game. This looks like the season Arsenal get to finally end their trophy drought which has now reached 8 years and 6 months. Alongside Wilshere and Ozil, the Gunners have one of the youngest and most powerful mid sections in European football.
