Shot Stopping
One important thing to note here is that Neto played far fewer games than either Ramsdale or Johnstone last season so things may be skewed slightly in his favour. In terms of save percentage, the Brazilian came out on top saving 81% of his shots, with Ramsdale (70.7%) and Johnstone (70.6%) some way behind.
A fairer metric to use would be Post Shot xG – Goals Conceded. This can tell us whether they were making better saves than the average keeper. In this area, Johnstone comes in first, with a +4.3 score, meaning he kept out four more goals than he probably should have. In contrast, Ramsdale (+1.9), and Neto (+0.7) were not as effective, although their numbers are by no means poor.
