Ramsdale Praises Arsenal Teammate Who He Describes As A “Man Mountain”

Arsenal number one Aaron Ramsdale has been full of praise for William Saliba after the Frenchman’s excellent start to the season.

The centre-back returned from a loan spell at Marseille in the summer and he has established himself as a regular starter for the Gunners, putting in a string of impressive performances. When asked for his thoughts on the player, Ramsdale said:

“A man-mountain, honestly. He glides across the pitch, doesn’t seem to sprint. He [Saliba] gets his big arm across people. The guy, he’s got everything honestly and he’s showing it on the pitch. He’s keeping some of the best strikers in the league quiet at the minute and all the credit goes to him.”

Saliba’s contract at the Emirates actually expires at the end of this season but Arsenal do have an option to extend his stay for a further twelve months.

Negotiations are thought to be underway to keep the 21-year-old for the long term but there remain doubts over whether the centre-half will commit his future to the club.

Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing Saliba and there is a feeling that he may be tempted back to France. With that being said, though, he is clearly enjoying his time with the Gunners and the fact that he is now getting regular game time may lead to him deciding that London is the best place for him to continue his development.
