Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe was given his first start for the club in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool yesterday. The Ivorian played the full 90 minutes alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as manager Unai Emery opted for two up top.
Considering it was his full debut, he caused the Reds defence a lot of problems and probably should have scored when he went through on goal at end of the first half. Most supporters were impressed by the 24-year-old’s display:
Quality performance, after he gets that first goal it’s all over for the premier league

Considering he has had no pre season under his belt. This kid will bring us far. Buy of the summer for sure.

When he is fully match fit, he will probably put away that clear cut chance, but he did well to bypass Andy Robertson and he looked to have the beating of Virgil van Dijk as well.
Fans were left to wonder what might have been, though, if Emery had opted to start Alexandre Lacazette as well as Pepe and Aubameyang. The front three were given their chance to play together in the last 10 minutes and it looked promising for the future.
