Premier League Team of the Week: Arsenal duo star as Gunners make it eight on the bounce

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all extended their unbeaten starts to the Premier League season this weekend.

The Blues beat Southampton 3-0 at St. Mary’s, whilst the latter two saw out a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Elsewhere, Manchester United produced a brilliant comeback from two down to beat struggling Newcastle 3-2, while the Premier League’s in-form team Arsenal made it six wins in a row with a 5-1 victory over Fulham.

Wolves kept up their strong start to the season with victory over Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth again impressed, putting four past Watford.

Tottenham, Brighton and Everton all also secured vital wins, but who were the weekend’s stand out players?

Team of the Week (4-3-3)

GK: Kepa – Chelsea

Didn’t have much to do till late on, but produced two marvellous saves to prevent Southampton setting up what would have been a nervy finish.

RB: Hector Bellerin – Arsenal

The Spaniard hasn’t put in a performance like that for a LONG time in an Arsenal shirt. Excellent going forward, and solid at the back too.

CB: Conor Coady – Wolves

Led the defensive line brilliantly again for Wolves against Palace, helping his side to keep their fourth clean sheet of the season already.

CB: Joe Gomez – Liverpool

It’s not mean feat to keep Manchester City’s front-line at bay, but Gomez did just that at Anfield, making a number of crucial tackles to deny Sergio Aguero and Co. from finding the net.

LB: Adam Smith – Bournemouth

Smith completed 91% of his passes at Vicarage Road, while also making three clearances and two recoveries. Key.

CM: Paul Pogba – Manchester United

Absent early on, but was the key man in sparking United’s remarkable late turnaround. Produced a quite brilliant assist for Anthony Martial’s equaliser.

CM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – Everton

The Iceland international’s winner over Leicester was his 50th Premier League goal, and boy was it one to remember. His fine turn and shot from outside the area may well see itself become a contention for this year’s Puskas Award such was it’s brilliance.

CM: Ross Barkley – Chelsea

What a week for Barkley. Re-called to the England squad and scoring his first Chelsea goal in the Blues’ 3-0 win over Southampton. The Englishman is looking like he could become a key figure for Maurizio Sarri’s side this season.

LW: Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Is there anything he can’t do? Bossed the game at St. Mary’s and scored his 7th Premier League goal of the season to open the scoring and extend his lead at the top of the goalscoring charts. Produced a late assist for Alvaro Morata too.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal

The Premier League’s top hitman at the moment? Lacazette’s two superbly taken goals against Fulham suggest so. That’s five for the season now in all competitions.

RW: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal

Aubameyang is forming quite the partnership with Lacazette – the Gabon international also grabbing two goals against Fulham in a comfortable 5-1 win.
