Premier League rival backs Lacazette to shine at Arsenal

Arsenal have landed a top-class addition this summer with the capture of Alexandre Lacazette, who arrives for a club-record fee and has a reputation as one of the deadliest strikers within European football- giving the Gunners something they’ve been lacking for years.

Lacazette will arrive to lead the line at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsene Wenger’s side look to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on Champions League football last term and eye their first Premier League title since going the season unbeaten in 2004.

There’s still a lot of questions surrounding the Gunners, particularly the uncertainty of Alexis Sanchez’ future, but Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante has stated that he believes compatriot Lacazette will deliver in North London.

Quoted by The Evening Standard, the back-to-back Premier League winner said:

‘I know him from the national team and from what he did in the French league. He is a very good player who has scored more than 20 goals every season for the last few seasons in Ligue 1. He is a good player and a good addition for Arsenal.’

‘He’s a goalscorer, clever with the ball and when he has a chance he has a gift for finishing well. He will be a good addition for Arsenal.’

The fact that a player like Kante, who won PFA Player of the Year last season, believes that Lacazette will be a success in the Premier League is a massive boost for Arsenal, as it shows their rivals are concerned about the business that’s been done.

Lacazette will still need to hit the ground running though as Arsenal’s rivals all boast top-class strikers; with Manchester City having Sergio Aguero, Tottenham boasting Harry Kane, Manchester United landing Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea edging towards a lucrative deal to land Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

At 26, Lacazette is approaching the prime years of his career though and should prove to be a deadly asset for Arsene Wenger’s side. The Frenchman is already off the mark for the Gunners, scoring 15 minutes into his debut in a friendly match against Sydney FC, and fans will hope it’s the first of major contributions for their expensive new recruit.
