Premier League Plan ‘TV Events’ Which Could Hand Arsenal Advantage

The FA have offered Wembley and the National Football Centre as potential venues for hosting a large number of Premier League games, according to the Times.

The Premier League are believed to be determined to finish the season by any means possible, with one source telling the newspaper that Wembley could even host multiple matches behind closed doors in a single day:

“By June or July, they will be playing games solely as TV events. If they have to play four games a day at Wembley to get it done, they will do that.”

The aim is to reduce travel for the players, referees and media in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Whether any games will be hosted at the Emirates, it remains to be seen, but if a large number of games are hosted in and around London that would certainly help Arsenal.

The Gunners will likely be able to train at their own London Colney training centre, and travel to games would be minimal, helping manager Mikel Arteta’s preparations for matches.

Whether this idea will get off the ground, we shall have to wait and see, and it will very much depend on when the health crisis begins to ease.
