Podolski Closing In On His Final Months At The Emirates

Podolski seems close to ending his Emirates journey. Not being able to become a team regular has really affected the 29 year old World Cup winner who was looking to play more than every other match. Even though he was injured for several months at a time, he still had a few moments when he could have played a series of games back to back. Unfortunately, he never secured his spot on the pitch despite being in a mainstay in his national team’s squad. Used mostly as a second or third choice, it is understandable that he would want to leave. According to the Daily Mail, Podolski stayed at the Emirates this season hoping that he will finally get the shot he deserves. Unfortunately he is still not Wenger’s first choice in terms of the Gunners’ attack.

No matter what injuries occur, Podolski has a really hard time making the team. Welbeck and Sanchez’s arrivals have also made things more complicated. The German international is really struggling now, managing to play just one single match from beginning to end this season.

Podolski seems to have trouble adapting when he is surrounded by world class players at club level. While playing for Bayern he failed to impress as well. He shined while playing for smaller teams and has always left fans wanting for more. Even though his career was more than once influenced by injuries, he always left the impression that he can do a lot more. Unfortunately, that side of him has not been allowed to come out while at the Emirates. The 29 year old will probably leave London especially if Arsenal manage to bring in at least one more attacking player as Podolski is starting to make his desire to leave London public and who can blame him given his still impressive record for Arsenal and his most impressive 100+ caps for his country.
