Piers Morgan Names The Two Forwards Arsenal Should Have Signed To Solve Their Attacking Woes

Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has expressed his frustration at the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to archrivals Tottenham at the weekend.

Speaking about the game, Morgan lamented Arsenal’s poor goalscoring record this season and he feels the club will regret past failures to secure the signings of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy:

“We should have signed Zaha, if we had signed Zaha and [Jamie] Vardy I think we would be scoring goals for fun.”

Whether Zaha would have been made a huge difference, it is debatable. The Ivorian only scored four goals last season, but he has returned to form this campaign and would arguably have been a better purchase than Nicolas Pepe.

Vardy would certainly have given the Gunners a different option but it must be pointed out that his strength is running in behind defences when his team plays on the counterattack.

In contrast, manager Mikel Arteta is a possession-based manager and most of the issues in the attacking third of the pitch have centred around the failure to breakdown defences who sit deep.
