Perez pens message to Arsenal fans following West Ham United move

Lucas Perez has thanked Arsenal fans for their support over the past two years after completing his move to West Ham United.

The Spaniard completed his £4 million switch to the London Stadium yesterday afternoon, penning a three-year deal with the Hammers to bring to an end his short spell with Arsenal.

Perez joined the Gunners in the summer of 2016 in a £17.1 million deal from Deportivo La Coruna, however struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in North London.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a promising first season at The Emirates, scoring seven times in 21 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side, however that couldn’t prevent him from being shipped out on-loan last term back to Deportivo.

Perez again found the net seven times for The Turks, and boasted the impressive record of having created the second most chances in La Liga last term behind only Lionel Messi.

Upon his return to Arsenal, Perez has been told by new manager Unai Emery he is not part of his plans this season, however the striker holds no hard feelings, and has thanked the club and his fans for the time they spent together.

“Today I would like to thank Arsenal fans for their support, they always showed me affection and love from the first time I arrived in London,” he said in the post on his Twitter account.

“I also want to give my thanks to my teammates and to the staff of this club for giving me the opportunity to make my debut in one of the best leagues in the world and win the FA Cup. I wish you all the best for the future and I hope you can go on and achieve great things.”

Perez is the second Arsenal player to move to West Ham this summer after Jack Wilshere completed a free transfer to the London Stadium last month.
