Ozil’s poor scoring record has got people wondering. He is after all Arsenal’s most expensive player ever and expectations are higher as far as his performances go. The German International started off strong as he was immediately made part of the group. His skill has definitely improved the Gunners’ game even though he does not score as much as expected. Real’s former player could have found the net for the fourth time this season against Marseille but failed to make the penalty shot his team was given this past Thursday. With Wilshere and Ramsey being a constant threat for their opponents, more is expected from Ozil as he also failed to find the net vs Cardiff City.

Arsenal’s defender also implied that even though he has scored only three times since moving to Emirates, his importance to the game is undeniable. It may sound a bit complicated for the untrained eye, but the truth is there are few players in the world who can do what Ozil does when having the ball. People probably forget he has been playing for the Gunners for just a couple of months. Few footballers have the ability to adapt and excel so soon after transferring from such a different championship which is considered below the Premier League level.
Mertesacker also mentioned the fact that Ozil is a very hard worker and that his skill is perfectly complemented by his determination. He is one of the most complete midfielders in European football.
