Paul Merson Predicts The Scoreline As Arsenal Face Leeds

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson is expecting his former club to record an emphatic win over Leeds.

The Gunners will be keen to maintain their lead over Manchester City at the top of the table and Merson believes they should pick up the three points at the Emirates this weekend:

“Leeds are not going to hold back and play ten men behind the ball. They’re going to have a go and I expect them to score a goal, but I don’t think they’ll keep it tight at the back. Arsenal are at the top of the league because everyone has been excellent. When one player doesn’t have a good game, another player steps up. They’ve been brilliant as a team and should be able to win this game.”

Merson has gone with a 4-1 victory for Arsenal, which is a very confident prediction, but the home side will be strong favourites for the match on Saturday.

Leeds may have won 4-2 against Wolves at Molineux right before the international break, but that was only their second win away from Elland Road all season.

In contrast, Mikel Arteta’s side are formidable on their own patch, having picked up 35 points in 14 games, with their only loss coming against title rivals City.

It may not be as straightforward as Merson seems to think it will be but you would back the Gunners to see off Javi Gracia’s team.
