Ex-Arsenal player Paul Merson is expecting an entertaining encounter when his former club take on Leicester this weekend.
The Gunners have been rather leaky at the back recently and, while Merson expects that to continue at the King Power Stadium, he is backing Mikel Arteta’s men to secure the three points:
“Arsenal are the team to watch right now. Arteta’s side seem to get a little nervous on occasion and they’re a bit caught in between wanting to be defensively solid and going all-out in attack.”
“They should ideally score the first goal and if they do that, they’ll play their best football for the rest of the game. But they haven’t been doing that much in recent games and that’s what has led to them being shaky at the back because the nerves start to show. I expect Arsenal to come out on top in an entertaining game.”
Merson has gone with a 3-2 win to Arsenal, which is a result that fans would take, but it won’t be a game that will be good for the nerves.
Arteta’s side have not kept a clean sheet since the North London derby last month, having conceded 10 goals in their last six games. Even though Leicester did draw a blank last time out, they were unlucky not to score a goal or two versus Manchester United, so they will be a threat.
Merson believes that Arsenal will be able to outscore the Foxes but it could well be an end-to-end game on Saturday based on recent form.
