Paul Merson Predicts The Result As Arsenal Face Watford

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson is expecting his former club to record a narrow victory when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road tomorrow afternoon.

While Roy Hodgson’s side have not been in good form, Merson does believe the Hornets have it in them to cause a surprise, so he is predicting a tight contest:

“Arsenal are flying at the moment, but Watford are really unpredictable and I always get the feeling that they have a couple more good performances left in them between now and the end of the season. You never quite know what you’re going to get from the Hornets, so this is a tough football match to call.”

Merson still thinks the Gunners will come out top, and he predicts a 2-1 for Mikel Arteta’s men, but they will have to fight to get the three points.

That seems to be a very fair assessment of the team’s chances tomorrow. Arsenal haven’t exactly been that great on the road this campaign, albeit they did win 1-0 away at Wolves recently.

Watford are, however, not in the best of shape, having not won a home match since the 4-1 win over Manchester United back in November. A draw in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last time out will give them some confidence so expect this one to be a battle.
