Paul Merson Predicts The Outcome As Arsenal Play Chelsea

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson is expecting his former club to secure a comfortable victory against Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

The Blues are on a horrendous run of form and, despite the Gunners’ recent struggles, Merson is backing Mikel Arteta’s side to get back to winning ways:

“I don’t see anything but an Arsenal win here. Given Chelsea’s squad depth, they should not be in the position they are in. Chelsea don’t have a good centre-forward. They can’t seem to figure out where the goals are coming from.”

Merson has gone with a 2-0 win, which is a fair prediction, despite the fact that Arsenal have been struggling to keep clean sheets.

As Merson says, Chelsea can’t hit a barn door this season, having scored just thirteen goals in 15 away games. Having said that, though, Southampton had an equally poor scoring record on the road but they even managed to score three at the Emirates.

You would still hope that the Gunners will be more solid at the back than they were against the Saints and Manchester City last time out. Chelsea should be there for the taking, as long as Arteta’s men cut out the mistakes they have been making in recent matches.
