Palermo Confirm Talks With Arsenal

Palermo confirm that Arsenal have begun negotiations for 21 year old Paulo Dybala who will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The youngster’s contract will expire in 2016 and the Italians will have to sell in order not to lose their most prized possession. According to the Daily Mail, Dybala favors Arsenal over all other Premier League teams, despite interest from Chelsea and City. Palermo boss Mauro Zamparini is looking to get no less than £30 million for the Argentinian international which might be a bit too much in Wenger’s eyes.

Despite being the revelation of Serie A, Dybala is still very young and might have trouble handling the Premier League just as most before him had. Even if the Italian competition is tough, is not nearly as intense and as demanding as UK football. Spending probably half of the Gunners’ transfer budget on a striker who might end up being a third choice could be the wrong way to go. It is possible that Wenger could be trying to set up a new system for next season with Giroud up front and Dybala as a second striker. The 21 year old is not a natural striker, not yet at least managing to score 20 goals in 86 total appearances for Palermo. He also managed 14 assists which might be one of the reason Wenger wants him at Emirates. Arsenal will have to outbid Juventus though who have the upper hand right now as Dybala confirmed he is very fond of the Italian competition.
