Arsenal wantaway Mesut Ozil has revealed he is still in contact with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.
The German signed for Arsenal back in 2013, but his current deal at the Emirates is set to expire come the end of the season with no indication he will renew.
Many clubs have been linked with Ozil in both January and at the end of the season, including the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona. However, after his latest comments, perhaps a return to Real Madrid could be on the cards.
The 29-year-old has admitted he still speaks to his former manager Zidane, telling FootballMgzn: “The way he interpreted and directed his game has fascinated me and still fascinates me.
“His technique and his creativity were outstanding. As a youth player I wanted to be like him.
“When I got to Real Madrid and met him, my hands were sweating and I was nervous.
“But Zidane was very kind and positive. We still have contact from time to time.”
Arsenal would of course prefer Ozil to stay, but a move back to Spain would surely be more favourable than him switching to United.
