Owen Likens Arsenal Starlet To Cristiano Ronaldo As 17 Year Old Is Given Full Debut

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen believes Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has a bright future in the game.

The 17-year-old was given his first start by manager Unai Emery against Qarabag on Thursday night, and Owen was impressed by what he saw.

The TV pundit thought Saka performed better as the game went on and compared some of his skills to Cristiano Ronaldo:

“He certainly grew into the game. Just him having the courage to run at players was really refreshing to see. Some of the skill… I watched Ronaldo doing this the other day for Juventus. He’s just different class and by the end of the game, his confidence was oozing.”

Saka may have to wait for his next chance to impress, The winger hasn’t been named in a matchday squad for the Premier League as of yet, with his two games at senior level this season coming in the Europa League.

After getting his first 90 minutes under his belt for the first team, he may be confident of getting more games during the busy festive period. He will no doubt, though, be eyeing the FA Cup third round tie against either Solihull Moors or Blackpool next month for his next big opportunity.
