Ornstein Reveals Shock Arsenal Departure Is On The Cards

The Athletic‘s David Ornstein has confirmed that Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is set to leave the Emirates after failing to agree a new contract with the Gunners.

Negotiations between the London club and the 18-year-old took place earlier this year but there was no breakthrough in talks, with the player now likely to be sold this summer.

Balogun has just one year remaining on his current deal and rather than allowing him to go when his contract expires in 2021, Arsenal will look to offload him in order to ensure they get a decent transfer fee.

Brentford reportedly had a £5m bid rejected for the teenager in January, and it’s likely that he’ll have a host of suitors when the transfer window opens.

Playing for the Gunners’ Under 23s this season, Balogun has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances, while he has also played for the Under 21s in the EFL Trophy, starting the penalty shootout defeat to Northampton back in August.
