Ornstein Confirms Talks Were Held Over Arsenal Striker’s Sale To Serie A Giants

Roma did enquire about signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette earlier in the transfer window, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

The former BBC reporter claims that talks did not get very far as the Serie A club weren’t prepared to pay the French striker’s asking price but the Gunners could be still open to letting him leave.

A lot depends on whether Arsenal can ship out other players, such as Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis, with the London club needing to raise funds to make new bids for the likes of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

It is believed that Roma are unlikely to come back in for Lacazette before the transfer window closes, and with no other teams currently actively pursuing the 29-year-old, it doesn’t seem as though he will be leaving the Emirates any time soon.

After scoring two goals in his first two league appearances this season, fans will likely be glad he isn’t going anywhere.
