Ornstein Confirms Enquiry Has Been Made By Arsenal For 10M Rated Star Who Will Be Sold This Summer

Arsenal have made an enquiry for West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

The former BBC reporter, who is usually very reliable when it comes to the Gunners, says that the 28-year-old is being considered as an “alternative” to Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale.

If they do go after Johnstone, Mikel Arteta’s side should get a clear run to secure his signature, with West Ham having switched focus to snapping up Paris Saint-Germain’s Alphonse Areola after having a bid rejected for the West Brom star.

Ornstein claims that The Baggies “expect” to sell the keeper this summer but they are said to be demanding in excess of £10m for the England international, despite the fact that he has less than a year remaining on his contract at the Hawthorns.

Still, he would still be a lot cheaper than Ramsdale with the Blades currently said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £40m. We shall see if Arsenal do firm up their interest in Johnstone in the coming weeks.
