Borussia Dortmund are leading the race to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio during the January transfer window, according to El Nacional.
The Catalan rumour mongers report that there are five teams who could snap up the Spanish international in the New Year, with Dortmund being joined by Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan in the fight for the player’s signature.
Asensio is reportedly unsettled at the Bernabeu, having been reduced to game time off the bench, with the likes of Vinicius Jnr, Rodrygo and Eden Hazard also competing for places on the wings.
The 25-year-old has only been named in the starting eleven by manager Carlo Ancelotti in three league matches and, if his situation doesn’t improve in the next couple of months, he may be forced into leaving Madrid.
Whether Arsenal would see Asensio as a priority in January, it is debatable. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is believed to be focused on snapping up a central midfielder rather than another winger.
