Ex-Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud says he expects his former club to finish in the top four following their excellent start to the season.

When asked in an interview about whether he believes the Gunners will secure Champions League qualification this campaign, Giroud replied:

“Yes, definitely. I hope so.”

After missing out narrowly on fourth to arch-rivals Tottenham last year, Mikel Arteta’s side have started this season seemingly determined to put that right.

Five wins means they are top of the Premier League table after six games, although their recent defeat to Manchester United may have burst the bubble somewhat.

Getting a Champions League spot will be a challenge, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and United all vying for places. Arteta’s men do look like they have pushed on to another level this campaign, though, and, as long as injury problems don’t affect them too badly, they should be there or thereabouts come May.
