REPORT: Arsenal Fringe Player Could Leave The Club To Join Team In The Premier League

Arsenal fringe player Nuno Tavares could still leave the club in the summer transfer window as fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest have registered an interest in him, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

If the Daily Mail’s report is to be believed, Forest will pursue a loan deal for the player – there will also be an option to buy clause in his contract.

Tavares joined Arsenal back in 2021 from Benfica for a fee in the region of £8 million – since the, he has made 22 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scoring a single goal in that time.

Does Nuno Tavares still have a place in the Arsenal squad?

It seems that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta does not have a place in the squad for Tavares at this current moment. Despite showing promise earlier on in his career, he has not developed into the player that Gunners fans were hoping he may have.

Nevertheless, it seems odd that he is not being considered as part of the first team, given Arsenal’s current injury plight. They are struggling for options in the left-back role, following Kieran Tierney’s loan move to Real Sociedad and Jurrien Timber’s injury.

While not the best defender in the world, Tavares gets forward very well and offers plenty of options in the final third. While he isn’t going to be selected ahead of the now-fit Oleksandr Zinchenko, he could still provide adequate cover for the Ukrainian if he is not available for selection.

Last season, Tavares spent the campaign out on loan with Marseille – all together, he scored six goals in 31 Ligue 1 games, but failed to register a single assist during his time in France.

Who else is interested in a move for Nuno Tavares?

Besides Forest, Aston Villa were also heavily linked with a move for Tavares – however, their interest is thought to have ended after talks between the two parties collapsed.

In addition to this, PSG were also thought to be interested in the player earlier in the window, but they have since turned their attention elsewhere. Therefore, nothing should stand in Forest’s way at this point.
