Arsenal will have to pay a lot more than £25m for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, according to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink.
Reports in France yesterday had suggested that the Gunners had joined the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in pursuing the Netherlands international, but Elfrink says that claims that he will be available for such a low fee are wide of the mark:
“Colleagues from abroad are now also citing Arsenal as an option for Cody Gakpo, in which Liverpool, Bayern and Manchester City are also interested. A price of 29.9 million euros is linked to this. Not nearly enough to even come and have a cup of coffee at PSV.”

Gakpo has had a great season so far, scoring 10 goals and contributing 11 assists in 28 appearances for PSV. He has actually spoken out in recent days confirming that he has talked to his agent about interest from other teams, and the likelihood is that he will leave the Eredivisie in the summer.
Whether the Gunners would actually need a player like Gakpo, though, it is debatable. The 22-year-old generally plays off the left-wing; a position favoured by Gabriel Martinelli. Were the Brazilian to move infield to become a center forward, it could leave an opening for a player like Gakpo but it seems the Dutchman won’t come cheap.
