“Not For Sale” Owner Slams Door On Arsenal’s Attempts To Snap Up Romanian Wonderkid Likened To Mbappe

FCSB owner Gigi Becali has shut down speculation that winger Ianis Stoica could be sold to Arsenal.

Becali has confirmed reports in the Romanian media that the Gunners have been scouting the teenager, who has been compared to a younger Kylian Mbappe. However, the player is not likely to be offloaded any time soon:

“I think I’ll earn a lot of money (for Stoica). I don’t want to say any more. He’s new. Arsenal watched him but it’s fine. Maybe in a year or two, they can sign him but, for now, Ianis is not for sale.”

“He is strong, he has physicality, he has strength. He’s very smart. If you talk to him, you wouldn’t say he’s 18, you’d say he’s 23.”

Stoica is a Romanian Under 21 international but he has very limited game time at senior level. He had a loan spell last campaign at CSM Slatina where he made 24 appearances, whilst he has also played 18 times for FCSB’s first team so far.

The forward generally plays either off the right-wing or through the middle, and he has had a very good start to this season, having scored six goals in 14 matches.

At 18 years of age, Stoica is still learning the game and it’s likely that he is being looked at by Arsenal as a player for the future.
