‘No Official Proposals…’ Local Report Sets The Record Straight On Arsenal’s Pursuit Of 44M Rated Brazilian

Corinthians have received “no official proposals” for centre-back Robert Renan, according to Gazeta Esportiva.

The Brazilian website claims reports stating that Arsenal are set to step up their interest in the 19-year-old are false, with Corinthians having only received enquiries for the defender.

Renan was linked with the Gunners, Chelsea and Zenit St Petersburg last month, with it being suggested that all three teams had held talks with the player’s representatives.

However, things have seemingly not progressed any further than that. The teenager has a contract that expires in 2024 but the club have an option to extend his stay for a further three years so Corinthians are in a strong position.

In addition, Renan’s release clause is said to be as high as €50m (£44m) so he is unlikely to be available on the cheap. Even so, Arsenal are on the lookout for a left-footed centre-half and, considering his age and profile, the Brazilian could be someone that they make a bid for in the future.
