Arsenal have not made any contact regarding signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to the Italian international’s agent.

The Gunners, along with Paris Saint-Germain, have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old before the transfer window shuts next week, but Joao Santos dismissed the rumours, saying Chelsea have received no offers for his player:

“Jorginho still has a three-year contract with Chelsea, this plus two. I feel a lot of talk about Arsenal and PSG in the last few days, but the reality is that up to now, no official offer has arrived for the player. The transfer market closes on 5 October, but the more time passes the more difficult it becomes to make such an important operation. So at the moment, I can say that it is just rumours.”

It was reported that Jorginho was one of the alternatives if Arsenal were not able to sign Houssem Aouar or Thomas Partey. It is clear that, at the moment, the London club have not given up on signing the two players.

With Lucas Torreira seemingly poised to sign for Atletico Madrid as well, it seems the Gunners could well have the funds in place to seal a move for one of their top targets anyway, so a bid for Jorginho before to Monday’s deadline looks very unlikely at this stage.

Things could change, of course, but Jorginho doesn’t look like he will be taking the well-trodden path from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates.
