‘No Interest’ Agent Of Turkish Star Dashes Arsenal’s Hopes Of Signing Him

The agent of Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu says his client has no interest in leaving the King Power Stadium. The Turkish international is reportedly being monitored by Arsenal and Manchester City.

There had been claims that the Gunners had scouted the 23-year-old in the last international break when he played for Turkey in two Euro 2020 qualifiers. However, Mustafa Dogru has dismissed talk that the defender is looking to move clubs:

“Of course it’s perfectly normal for him to be involved in transfer speculation after his performances with Leicester City this season. However, we have no interest in this discussion. Both club and Caglar are looking to continue with each other. He is only focusing on the remaining of the season.”

Soyuncu has had an excellent start to the season with Foxes. Last campaign, the Turkish star barely featured in the first team with Harry Maguire being favoured as Jonny Evans’ centre-back partner.

Maguire’s departure for Manchester United has, though, afforded Soyuncu regular game time, and he is now part of a defence that has conceded just eight goals in 13 league games this season; the best in the Premier League.

In contrast, Arsenal’s defence has conceded double that figure (18), and while the Gunners could certainly do with someone like Soyuncu, it doesn’t seem likely that a move to the Emirates is on the cards at the moment.
