‘No Further Interest In Suarez!’ – Wenger

Arsenal made headlines as they chased Luis Suarez with purpose in the summer, trying to convince Liverpool to part with the Uruguayan. They announced their serious intentions when they made that comical and cheeky £40 million and £1 bid, which however did not go down well with the Reds. They refused to budge from their stance of selling to a direct rival, and successfully managed to keep hold of him.

Liverpool would be relieved they did so, as Suarez has come to the fore this season and is probably en route to win the Player of the Year award for his outstanding performances. Seeing him score so many goals, it is understandable that Wenger could have some regrets of failing to lure him to the Emirates Stadium when he had the chance. Given his current form, not only will his value escalate through the roof, but it would be even tougher to convince Liverpool, who signed him a new long-term deal not so long ago.

However, Wenger feels that this will not affect him further, as he has dropped his interest in the 27-year old for now, as reported by Metro. As Arsenal prepare to face Suarez and co. today at Anfield, Wenger was asked about yet another summer scramble for Suarez, to which he simply replied, “Would I bid again? At the moment no.”

With Wenger sounding decisive with this statement, is there any way he can change his mind? Do Liverpool have anything to worry about in the summer?
