No Fabregas-Arsenal Reunion!

No Fabregas-Arsenal Reunion!

Fabregas joined Arsenal as a 16-year old back in 2003 from the famed Barcelona’s youth academy, and under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger, he went on to become one of the best play makers in the world. He spent 8 years at the London club before he requested a switch back to his boyhood club, prior to the 2011-12 season.

It has been nearly 2 years since his £32 million switch back to the Nou Camp, but the Spanish international has still not reached the heights he reached during his days at Arsenal. Though he found a place on the bench for much of last season, he has managed to get a good amount of game time this season, but has not quite successfully created the impact from midfield the way he did with the Gunners.

Metro talks about a possible return of ‘El Capitol’ to Arsenal in the summer, as many believe that Fabregas has, perhaps, lost his way in the midst of the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, and is eyeing a move back to the club who made him what he is today.

However, it is now being reported that those rumors are false, as the 26-year old has decided to stay put in Spain and be a part of a massive rebuilding project, after doubts were cast over the quality, superiority and sustained dominance of Barcelona after their 7-0 mauling in the UEFA Champions League at the hands of finalists Bayern Munich.

Also, with veteran midfielder Xavi set to retire in the next 2-3 seasons, Fabregas wishes to be around to readily fill the void left in Barcelona’s midfield. All the indications point towards an extended stay in Barcelona for Fabregas.

This is deal seemed unlikely from the moment it was rumored but you just never know what is around the corner in football these days as Man United have shown over the past few days. The Gunners have now developed a strong balance with the trio of Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla so you could argue that we don’t even need Fabregas now.
