Serge Gnabry has rejected a €19m a year (£312,000 a week) contract extension from Bayern Munich, according to reports in the German media.
It is believed that the Bundesliga club have no intention of tabling an improved offer, with the 26-year-old now expected to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been mentioned as potential suitors for Gnabry and, while some are keen to see the winger return to the London club, many fans on Twitter believe his wages could prove prohibitive:
300 a week no chance of arsenal getting him

can't see us giving him more than that and don't see why he would come here for playing time when he could definitely get a move to a CL club

Thats €360k a week. With those wages, he can stay at Bayern imo

As some have pointed out, the €19m a year figure is likely to be before tax. It means that if he was offered the same deal by Arsenal, the actual net salary would be around the £156,000 a week mark, which is certainly not an exorbitant amount.
The big question, though, is whether Gnabry would be keen on moving back to the Gunners, especially when they can’t offer him Champions League football.
