N’Koulou Reiterates Loyalty To Marseille Amid Arsenal Interest

The Cameroonian international, Nikolas N’Koulou has been one of the few positives for Marseille in a season which has reached a new low for them. Their form domestically has been indifferent and an inconsistent run of games has seen them gradually slip down the league table. Their performances on the European stage has been even worse. They lost all 6 games in their UEFA Champions League group stages, which was one of the reasons as to why Marseille decided to part ways with their former manager Elie Baup nearly a fortnight ago.

The Ligue 1 club is caught in a downward free fall and speculation from the media about their key players are not making things any easier for them. N’Koulou, who has been one of the better performers of the team, has been linked with a move away from Marseille, with the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich understood to be waiting in the wings for the 23-year old.

However, he has maintained that he will not abandon the team which has made him what he is now, and intends to stay back and do his bit to steady the rapidly sinking ship, report Metro.

“I am not a coward, I am not happy with what I have shown today. I could not leave like this,” he said.

“I owe a lot to this club which have trusted in me. It is important for me to get back on track and put the record straight before considering a departure.

“I owe a lot to l’OM who made me make a name for myself. It is very important for me to find again my best level first.”

Do you think N’Koulou is making a mistake by passing up his ticket to the big league and a possible move to Arsenal?
