Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas thinks the Gunners are in for a difficult game against Wolves. Unai Emery’s men head into the match at the Emirates following a crazy League Cup tie against Liverpool midweek.
The 5-5 scoreline is an indictment of Emery’s inability to sort out the club’s defensive issues, according to Nicholas, and he thinks the only way they will come out on top tomorrow is if they pick an attacking line up:
“I am a massive fan of playing Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe, with Dani Ceballos just behind, so they should see Wolves off.”
“These players must start to take the tension off the defenders and produce. I think they will do, while Wolves are still unpredictable in what they want to do and where they are.”
Nicholas expects Arsenal to just edge proceedings with the home side securing a 2-1 win, but it will be a tricky game to navigate. Wolves have already won at Manchester City this season and will put up a stern test for the Gunners.
Interestingly, by backing Dani Ceballos to feature, Nicholas appears to suggest that he doesn’t believe Mesut Ozil will start, despite his performance midweek.
The 31-year-old has been touted as a candidate to start by many pundits but it remains to be seen if he is included in the starting line up.
