Nicholas Fears Arsenal Could Be On The End Of A ‘Real Hiding’ Against City

Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas doesn’t believe the Gunners will have much of a chance against Manchester City tomorrow.

Unai Emery’s side will head to the Etihad back in the top four following Tuesday’s victory against Cardiff.

However, Nicholas believes City will be full of hunger to get the win in order to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the table:

“I am scared of this one for my former team. Yes, we have got into the top four and are doing better than anticipated. But Man City will be angry and will be looking to close that gap before Liverpool play and we all know that City can rip any team apart.”

“And because it is a big team coming to play them, they will be even more up for this, so I see nothing other than a comfortable City win and Arsenal could get a bit of a run around here. This is the least hopeful I have been for an Arsenal game ever, I fear they could give us a real hiding.”

Nicholas predicts a 3-0 home win for Pep Guardiola’s team, although he thinks it could be more. A harsh scoreline considering the Gunners’ excellent goalscoring record this campaign.

Keeping a clean sheet is certainly unlikely for the London club but you would back them to score against a City defence which isn’t exactly looking watertight at the moment.

The 2-1 defeat that Newcastle inflicted on the Citizens midweek should give Arsenal hope. It must be said, though, that City have dropped just three points at home all season.

Those came in the 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace in December, and the fast counter-attack the Eagles employed could be something that Emery will look to exploit as well.
