Nicholas Makes His Prediction For Arsenal’s Game Against Southampton

Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas is confident that the Gunners will get the three points when they come up against Southampton at the Emirates tomorrow afternoon.

Although he doesn’t think Unai Emery‘s side are playing well, he believes their opponent’s weak defence will be exploited by Arsenal’s forward line. He is calling on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, in particular, to step up to the plate and bag some goals:

“Southampton are getting credit after their response to the 9-0 drubbing but they keep getting beat. The goalkeeper and the back three are still vulnerable. Alexandre Lacazette was not on international duty and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a bit quiet recently, so it is time for Arsenal to get back to winning ways.”

“They are sixth in table and have been awful. Chelsea are going to Manchester City, which could bring back a little belief once more that the top four is achievable. These are the games you are expected to win and Arsenal will win.”

Nicholas has gone for a convincing 4-1 win for the Gunners, which isn’t that surprising despite the home side’s poor form. Southampton are on a wretched run at the moment, with no win since September.

The nadir was the 9-0 home defeat to Leicester and they haven’t managed to pick up a point since then, even though their performances have improved in their losses to Manchester City and Everton.

If Arsenal don’t manage to pick up a victory here, the pressure on Emery will ramp up hugely so the Spaniard will be a hoping for a comfortable home win this weekend.
