Napoli Respond To Insigne Transfer Rumors

Arsenal were turned down even before placing a bid for Italian international, Lorenzo Insigne. The forward, who recently admitted to feeling honored a club as big as the one from the Emirates looks interested in his services, politely turned down any discussion regarding a possible move. According to the London Evening Standard, Insigne’s club also responded to transfer rumors by hinting that there is no chance of a deal between them and the Gunners.

The response came from Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis who seemed offended by the fact that Arsenal consider Insigne a possible target. What really bothered him seemed to be the fact that Wenger’s alleged offer was going to be somewhere around £16 million which is too little for Insigne. De Laurentiis insisted the Italian international will be worth £55 million and that Arsenal’s confidence they will be able to bring in Insigne for so little money is laughable.

Napoli’s 23 year old forward is set to appear in Italy’s starting eleven during the group stages of the World Cup in Brazil. Even though De Laurentiis clearly exaggerated when saying £16 million is an offer to laugh at, it is still going to be really hard to make a move for any of Napoli’s players especially with the Italian club’s new found financial stability and also its ability to invest in talented and expensive players.
