Arsenal have made RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano their top centre-back target for the next transfer window, according to reports in the English media.
It is believed that manager Mikel Arteta, the recruitment staff and the board are all keen on getting a deal agreed for the France Under 21 international.
Supporters on Twitter are keeping their fingers crossed that the Gunners can secure the transfer of Upamecano:

With the 21-year-old’s release clause set at €60m (£54m), it does appear to be a long shot considering Arsenal are highly unlikely to be in the Champions League next season.
However, with Upamecano’s contract expiring in 2021, Leipzig have already said they will look to sell the Frenchman this summer if he doesn’t extend his current deal.
With that being the case, the centre-half could be available for a knockdown price which may help the Gunners get a deal over the line. It could, though, attract interest from other clubs with both Chelsea and Manchester City also said to be keen on the defender.
