Monaco To Tempt Wenger, Will He Re-Join French Club?

Wenger’s contract runs out at the end of the season and he is yet to sign an extension. Although he has agreed in principle to stay at the club beyond the end of the season, the Frenchman has not yet put pen to paper to confirm his position at Arsenal next term.

He is coming under increasing pressure at the club after failing to win a trophy in nearly nine seasons. Arsenal face Hull City in the FA Cup final, and a win would go some way in appeasing the Gunners faithful who have grown tired at Wenger’s shortcomings in recent seasons.

According to the Daily Mail, Monaco want to take advantage of Wenger’s current situation by offering him a whopping £22 million-a-year deal to become the club’s next manager. He currently earns three times less than that with £7.5 million, and it could be difficult to turn down such a lucrative deal originating from his homeland.

Monaco are set to finish second in Ligue 1 after some heavy investments including the £50 million acquisition of Falcao last summer. Monaco are desperate to bring in Wenger, who was Monaco manager from 1987-1994, and they believe he could lead them to the league title next season.
