New Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos says Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the ‘best players in the Premier League.’

The pair both joined Dortmund in 2013, where they spent three seasons together before moving to Arsenal within six months of each other.

Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners in January from Manchester United, while Sokratis came in North London this summer in a £16 million deal from Dortmund.

And the Greek defender has hailed his former – and now current – team-mate as one of England’s top players.

“It’s everything,” Sokratis told Arsenal Player. “With the ball, without the ball, how he works for the team, when he creates, when he returns with the team… it’s just amazing.

“What he showed in his last year in Dortmund, he was one of the best in the Bundesliga. I think he can also be one of the best here in the Premier League.”
