Michael Owen Predicts The Scoreline As Arsenal Face Liverpool

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen is expecting a stalemate when Arsenal take on Liverpool at the Emirates this evening.

Neither side have managed to put together a consistent run of form in the league, despite their successful runs in European competitions this season, and Owen can’t see either team taking the three points:

“Successive wins are something Arsenal haven’t done in the league since January, and although Liverpool are showing signs of a potential return to form, I can’t say I’m confident siding with either side.”

Owen has gone with a 1-1 draw, which is a pretty fair prediction considering neither club have really convinced in recent matches. It will, though, be interesting to see how manager Mikel Arteta approaches the game.

The Spaniard’s priority will be the Europa League quarter-final tie against Slavia Prague on Thursday but, with a five-day gap between the two fixtures, he shouldn’t need to rotate too much.

With little really to play for in the league, he may release the shackles and allow his side to attack, but that may play into the hands of their opponents. We shall have to wait and see how he sets up his team at the Emirates tonight.
