Michael Owen Predicts The Outcome As Arsenal Face Newcastle In The FA Cup

Former England international Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to come away with a narrow win when they play Newcastle at the Emirates tomorrow.

The two sides are expected to make a number of changes in the FA Cup third-round tie but Owen sees manager Mikel Arteta sticking with players such as Emile Smith Rowe for this encounter, which should help his side seal another victory:

“The Gunners have certainly turned the corner in recent weeks. They take on a Newcastle side that despite getting a draw against Liverpool, have struggled against the top sides this season. I think Mikel Arteta will continue to opt for the youngsters that have been excellent in recent weeks, and if he does, I think Arsenal will go through.”

Owen has gone with a 2-1 win for the home side, which is a pretty fair prediction if Arteta does rotate his starting eleven for this match. The Magpies are also playing on Tuesday night in the league against Sheffield United so Steve Bruce is unlikely to put out a full-strength side either.

The Gunners will be keen to keep up recent momentum and making it four wins in a row will certainly help retain the feel-good factor which has slowly returned to the club over recent weeks.
