Merson Questions “Flat-Track Bullies” Arsenal’s Ability To Hold Onto Fourth

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson has backed the Gunners to get the win against Bournemouth tomorrow evening.

Unai Emery’s side came out 2-0 winners over Southampton on Sunday, and Merson thinks Arsenal find teams further down the table easy to pick off.

Although he is banking on his former side to get the three points, he is still worried by their top four chances:

“Arsenal are flat-track bullies, aren’t they? They finish these teams off. With Bournemouth’s injuries, I can only see an Arsenal win. This would be another great result in the top-four race.”

“One point ahead of United, I’m still not sure I see Arsenal getting Champions League. They’ve got a bad result in them. They will be caught up in the end.”

Merson has gone for a 3-1 win for the Gunners at the Emirates. With Chelsea facing Tottenham and Manchester United having a difficult away trip to Crystal Palace, they do have a chance of cementing a top-four position.

If both their rivals fail to win their respective matches, the London club could open up a three or four-point gap.

Of course, you can’t take anything for granted. Bournemouth will still present a tough test for Arsenal but their away record in the league has been pretty poor.

The Cherries have just nine points from 13 away games this season, with three wins and ten defeats.
