Merson Predicts One Leicester Player Will Put Arsenal To The Sword This Afternoon

Paul Merson

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson doesn’t expect the Gunners to get any points against Leicester City this afternoon.

The TV pundit feels his former club will play into Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers’s hands at the King Power Stadium, with Jamie Vardy likely delivering the killer blow:

“I’ve got to go for Leicester though. [Jamie] Vardy will be too much for the Arsenal defence, they’ve got pace. Look at Leicester since Brendan has gone there, they find it hard to break teams down.

“But when teams like Arsenal come in who are going to have a go, they’re a dangerous animal. Very dangerous. Arsenal have half an eye on next Thursday as well which doesn’t help.”

Merson has gone for a 2-1 win for the home side; a result which would seriously damage the club’s hopes of Champions League football next campaign.

Two rivals for fourth, Manchester United and Chelsea, play each other later on in the day, and Arsenal could do with taking advantage of the situation following recent results.

A surprise home defeat to Crystal Palace was followed by another very disappointing performance on the road at Wolves midweek.

Unai Emery’s side have now lost more games away from home in the Premier League this season than they have won. With Merson predicting another difficult afternoon for the Gunners, that record could be even worse by the end of the day.
