Merson Makes His Prediction For Arsenal’s Clash Against Cardiff This Evening

Ex-Gunners star Paul Merson has backed Arsenal to get a comfortable win against Cardiff City tonight.

The TV pundit feels that Unai Emery’s side do not have any problems rolling over teams at the bottom of the table, and he expects to see a convincing display when the London club face the Bluebirds:

“Arsenal are flat-track bullies! They don’t have any problems with these types of games and I can see them bouncing back easily from their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.”

Merson has gone for a 3-0 victory for the Gunners this evening, backing his former side to keep a clean sheet despite the team’s injuries at the back.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos injured his left ankle in the FA Cup defeat on Friday with the Greek international not expected to return to training until the end of February.

In the same match, Laurent Koscielny suffered a nasty facial injury. However, the news from the medical department was better than expected and he didn’t suffer a broken jaw as some first feared.

Instead, the club captain suffered bruising and soft tissue swelling but he’s unlikely to start against Cardiff. Shkodran Mustafi and Konstantinos Mavropanos are likely to line up in the centre of defence.
