‘Maybe They Would Try…’ McNicholas Delivers Verdict On Whether Arsenal Will Bid For 45 Cap German International

Arsenal could be bold enough to make a bid for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer, according to The Athletic‘s James McNicholas.

The reliable journalist says that he has no inside information on whether the Gunners are interested in the former Manchester City player. However, after the club’s surprise attempts to sign Raphinha, he would not bet against Mikel Arteta’s side also pursuing Sane:

“Wow, Sane. I’d be over the moon with that. But I have no idea if there’s any truth to it. When I first heard it, I felt Raphinha felt difficult and expensive. I was right in the end, but Arsenal really tried and maybe they would try for another player of that calibre.”

Another reporter, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are still actively looking to sign a winger but, at the moment, it is difficult to know who the club’s primary target to strengthen the forward line is.

A whole host of names have been mentioned in recent weeks, including the likes Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, Barcelona’s Memphis Depay and Porto’s Pepe but Sane could also be under consideration.

The German, who has been capped 45 times by his country, has worked with Arteta before at City, so the link does make perfect sense in that regard.
